The Bumiputra Designers Association (BDA) was formed in June 2006 and officially registered as a professional non-profit organisation on 13th December 2006. The co-founders for BDA were Mahani Awang and Tan Sri Datuk. Dr. Kamal Salih. The initiative to establish this association was strong supported by many established fashion Bumiputra designers as well as group of people in creative and artistic fields.
The establishment of Bumiputra Designers Association (BDA) was in line with the rapid growth of the fashion industry and creative industry in Malaysia as well as globally.
