Delhi Couture Week India
India Delhi Couture Week. High Fashion Drama. The high fashion fever is yet to grip the Capital even as the date of the first Delhi Couture Week is approaching fast. There are many good things that are attached to this high fashion week, with promises being made by many designers that it won’t just be a bridal week, but a week where designers also will showcase creativity
For instance, I was told that choreography can be done in a liberal fashion and the FDCI will foot the bill for making the shows extra glamorous. Designers, on their part, are busy stitching their garments
While most people associated with fashion are part of this event, there are some eminent people, like hair and makeup expert Ambika Pillai for instance, not being part of the event. Mac seems to be the flavour of the season for FDCI for its first couture week. Now, I have not been able to confirm this, but if its true, I’d say it’s unfair.
I do understand it is the prerogative of FDCI to decide as to who should do what at the Week. But Ambika, who has been part of fashion weeks right from its inception, who has worked very loyally and passionately for Indian fashion, not being part of the event, I thought was rather disheartening. I am sure Ambika endorses all good brands including Mac. In this scenario, even from the brand’s side, it was not fair to edge Ambika out
