Mumbai, India. Lakme Fashion Week from Sept 17-21, receiving application from 34 cities. Lured by the opportunities in the fashion industry, the Lakme Fashion Week (LFW) this time has witnessed a steady increase of emerging designers

LFW Winter 2010 season has seen an unprecedented increase this time, with 172 Gen Next applications, marking a growth of 81% and 92 emerging designer applications recording a hike of 44% as compared to last season.

“We are pleased with the overwhelming response received for this season. In the first decade, LFW introduced the Gen Next and emerging designer platform with the vision of bringing to the forefront great minds and encouraging new talent,” Lakme, Advisor, Anil Chopra said.

LFW,that is scheduled to start from September 17 to 21 has been receiving application from 34 cities both metros and non-metros including Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Surat, Ludhiana, Udaipur, Kochi and Rishikesh among others.

“In many established names the fashion journey of many Gennext begins with this platform. LFW will continue to be the leader in investing and supporting young talent as they shape the future of Indian fashion trade,” IMG India, vice-president and Head of Fashion, Sujal Shah said.

LFW Winter and Festive 2010 season will weave in the importance of Indian festivals and the fashion that is prevalent in Indian society during the coming months.

LFW is jointly organised by Lakme, the leader in cosmetics and beauty services brand in India and IMG, the global leader in fashion weeks and event production.
